INNOVATEXT ‘75 Jubilee event “Sustainable Textile Forum”
INNOVATEXT and the Association of Hungarian Light Industry organised a celebratory event to mark the 75th anniversary of Innovatext, the knowledge centre of the Hungarian textile and clothing industry. The event, attended by around 120 people, was hosted by the House of Heritage in Budapest. The aim of the event was to foster a change of mindset and to initiate inspiring discussions in the textile and leather supply chain. Accordingly, the presentations of the professional day covered the key issues affecting the sector: sustainability and the challenges of a circular future.
We were delighted to be honoured by the presence of the top management of Hohenstein, Prof. Dr Stefan Mecheels, Dr Droste and Martin Cieslik.
In his speech, Prof. Mecheels highlighted that several anniversaries can be celebrated at the same time: in addition to the 75th anniversary of INNOVATEXT, the institute was acquired by Hohenstein 20 years ago and Dr.’ Kokas has been at the head of the company for 10 years. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, Prof. Mecheels congratulated the Institute and presented Dr Kokas with a jubilee certificate and a beautiful bouquet of flowers in recognition of the Institute's excellent work.
European Textile Technology Platform speaker Kamilla Drubina presented the Horizon Europe and Textile of the Future programmes, Dr Droste talked about current market transition showing how certificates drive business, while Dr Kokas and Cieslik presented the Innovatext and Hohenstein service portfolio.
The event was accompanied by a chamber exhibition highlighting the diversity of domestic traditions and innovations. This exhibition was a special selection of the collections of the VIII International Textile Triennial 2024 and Design without Borders 2024, as well as the House of Traditions' collection of costume history. The day ended with a fashion show by students of Óbuda University and the VHR Fashion brand.
